Flexible Glass Armoured Resistive Touch Sensor
Ultra Touch sensors are a revolutionary design in touch screen sensors. With the use of advanced materials engineering a flexible polymer/glass laminate makes up the thin front film in place of the more usual polymer only film used on standard 4 and 5 wire resistive touch sensors. The laminated polymer/glass membrane is so tough it can take severe hammer blows without being damaged. This means that the ULTRA remains a pressure activated technology which is highly preferred in certain applications, but without the drawback of an easily damaged front film. ULTRA has all the benefits of the other two hard glass technologies but without their drawbacks, for instance the ULTRA will continue to operate even when deeply scratched. Another feature to consider is that unlike to the other glass technologies even if the backing glass is broken no shards of glass can get through the ULTRA’s flexible glass/polymer laminate front film.

ULTRA Variants
With such a durable outer layer, ULTRA lends itself to applications that will be exposed to extreme abuse. Applications such as public kiosks that are un-manned and prone to vandalism, systems deployed into heavy engineering or mining environments and general ruggedized equipment. To meet these demands the ULTRA is available with different types of backplane substrates.
ABSOLUTE ULTRA
Absolute ULTRA employs a polycarbonate backplane lamination. This option was designed to meets the needs of explosion proof rated equipment, typically for the oil and gas industry. Absolute ULTRA is the first touch sensor suitable for deployment in such explosion rated equipment.
ULTIMATE ULTRA
Ultimate ULTRA employs chemically strengthened or heat tempered backplane laminations. Ultimate ULTRA is suitable for applications that require additional durability and protection of the display itself.
