4-Wire resistive touch screens are the preferred choice for low cost applications.
How it works
It consists of a conductive bottom layer (ITO Glass or Film) and a conductive top layer (ITO Film). The two layers are suspended apart by many tiny clear spacer dots. When the top ITO Film layer is touched contact is made with the bottom layer and a voltage charged by the touch controller is applied to the bottom layer’s electrodes. The X coordinate of the touch point is detected by measuring the voltage through the top ITO layer and the Y coordinate of the touch point can be measured in the same way by the changing voltage input of the bottom ITO layer.
