Openframe SAW Touch TFT LCD Monitors

Monday, October 13th, 2008

We are pleased to introduce 3 new Industrial TFT LCD touch monitors designed for harsh or even hostile environments requiring a rugged man machine interface.

The 15.0″, 17.0″ and 19.0″ sizes all come fitted with a waterproof IP65 (NEMA3) rated SAW touch.  The standard SAW touch has a sealed front bezel which protects the touch reflectors and transducers from liquids and dust which makes these monitors ideal for process control applications, medical equipment and public information kiosks all of which may need to be washed or certainly wiped down at some point in their daily routines.

The monitors are fitted with a dual RS232 and USB touch interface to make for easy communication plus with both vertical and horizontal mounting options via supplied brackets and with rear VESA mounting holes mechanical integration is relatively easy.

SAW touch is the preferred touch technology in many applications due to its high resolution of 4096×4096 plus Z-axis capability.  It is a pure glass overlay with a Mohs’ hardness rating of 7 offering between 90-92% transmissivity and has a life of over 50M touches on a single point. The touch can be used with both a gloved or un-gloved finger without the need to change any touch settings and is impervious to all chemicals that do not effect glass.

Hi-Brightness TFT LCD

Friday, October 10th, 2008

With more and more applications requiring a display to be viewed in either direct sunlight or very high ambient light conditions standard brightness displays of 250~350 nits are just not bright enough and will just wash out. Here at Craft Data we have been working with a specialist company in Korea that take a standard 250nit panel and tranforms it into typically a 1000 nit plus panel by removing the standard backlight assembly and replacing it with either a super hi-brightness, hi-efficiency LED or CCFL backlight unit (blu).

Sizes range from a 6.4″ VGA panel (base model LB064V12-TD01) with 1000 nit brightness to a 32.0″ WXGA panel (base model LC320W1) with 2000 nit brightness with all the popular panel sizes in between  represented, along with the panel we also supply the appropriate backlight inverter.

All of the panel sizes can also be supplier as an open frame monitor with mounting metalwork and a VGA input which makes the integration into your application quick and easy.  Touch versions utilising resistive, SAW, Capacitive and Infrared technology can also be supplied.

For the latest information please navigate your way to the “contact us” page and complete the online enquiry form alternatively email us at sales@craftdata.co.uk or call us on 01494 778235. We hope to hear from you soon.

Bolymin OLED

Thursday, October 9th, 2008

New from our LCD supplier Bolymin comes a growing range of OLEDs to complement their already comprehensive range of LCD.  Previously limited to only a couple of OLED panels Bolymin have now moved into this area of the display market with vigour and now boast a range comprising of 15 different panels from 96×32 pixels to 256×64 pixels. Whilst the current OLED panels are still relatively small in size Bolymin do not see this as a disadvantage as the demand for small compact displays for handheld instruments,  portable gaming machines and personal MP3 players is huge and still growing.

We have seen the OLED market in the UK stutter and almost grind to a halt as the OLED manufacturers have either stopped producing panel completely or have started to look for large volume customers only bypassing the bulk of customers that distributors worldwide like us generally service.  Bolymin realise that the only way for OLED to be accepted as a viable alternative to LCD is to handle all business large or small so overall worldwide volumes increase and development engineers are no longer wary of this wonderful new display technology.

For further information on Bolymins range of OLED or if you have a specific display enquiry and would like to see if OLED is all that it promises please navigate your way to the contact page and leave your details, alternatively send an email to sales@craftdata.co.uk or call us on 01494 778235.

32.0″ Wide Screen Open Frame TFT LCD Monitor

Thursday, October 9th, 2008

Following on from our previous post about the 22.0″ wide screen monitor comes the 32.0″ version, again it is the wide screen format 16:10 that is becoming more popular and is slowly replacing the the current 4:3 aspect ratio panels.  The TFT panel makers see the wide screen format as the key to many markets not just in the TV/video broadcast areas. Kiosk manufacturers are seeing the benefit of the wide screen format display which allows for both customer accessed information and possibly advertising information being displayed at the same time, whilst still giving each block of information the visual impact it needs.

As with the 22.0″ version our 32.0″ open frame TLK-320WZ with its hi-specification is ideal for a host of applications requiring a visually impressive display. Key features are as follows:-

  • WXGA Resolution (1366 x 768 pixels)
  • Hi-Brightness (500 nits typ.)
  • Hi-Contrast (800:1)
  • Fast Response Time (8ms typ.)
  • Wide viewing angle (H: 178deg / V: 178deg)

As with all our industrial monitors the standard input is analogue RGB, however DVI-D and video inputs are also available. The monitor can also be supplied with touch input, the 32.0″ is available with either General Touches SAW or Nexio’s Infrared both with a proven track record in rugged environments.

For further information please navigate to our contacts page and leave your details or alternatively send us an email to sales@craftdata.co.ukor call us on 01494 778235.  Please rest assured that we will not pester you to visit or deluge you with email after email, what we will do is send through the datasheet and possibly ask a couple of background questions, after that we hope to hear from you.

22.0″ Wide Screen Open Frame TFT LCD Monitor

Thursday, October 9th, 2008

The 22.0″ Wide Screen TFT monitor is now being seen as the size of choice in the gaming and casino world. With two of the major TFT panel producers CMO and Samsung focusing on this size it ensures a strong  market for this panel size. The gaming machine manufacturers are not the only group that have taken note of this panel development, kiosk manufactuers are also now seeing the benefit of the wide screen, hi-contrast, hi-resolution format over the more tradtional 4:3 aspect ratio panels.

Our TLK-22WZ open frame monitor is now being seen as the natural replacement to the current 19.0″ 4:3 aspect ratio monitors in the gaming, kiosk and industrial control markets.  It offers an extremely hi-specification with the key features as follows:-

  • WSXGA Resolution (1650 x 1050 pixels).
  • Hi-Brightness (400 nits typ.).
  • Hi-Contrast ratio (1000:1)
  • Fast Response Time (5ms typ.)
  • Wide viewing angle (H:170deg  / V:160deg)

The standard input for this model is analogue RGB however DVI-D and video inputs can also be provided at a small premium. The monitor also can be supplied with touch input, currently available are 3M Capacitive and General Touch SAW options both delivering excellent touch resolution and suitable for a semi rugged environment.
