3.5″, 4.3″ & 5.7″ Powertip TFT LCD

Friday, June 27th, 2008

Powertip push on into the TFT LCD market with great success.

Powertip’s strategic alliance with one of the world’s largest manufacturers of TFT LCD, Chi Mei, is proving to be a very successful partnership. Whilst Chi Mei or CMEL as they are more commonly known in the industry focus their efforts on the large panel markets, Powertip using CMEL glass focuses on the small panel market.

Having been in the displays field for over 25 years we see Powertip’s entry into this area of the market as a great opportunity for us. With the switch from monochrome to colour becoming more and more popular with today’s engineers to rejuvenate and existing product and with Powertip’s very keen pricing structure the transition from mono to colour may not be as expensive as you might think.

Currently Powertip have released a 3.5″, two 4.3″ and two 5.7″ displays all white LED backlit plus all have the option of a factory fitted 4-Wire resistive touch.

Model Part Number are listed below:-

  • PH320240T-006-I-Q = 3.5″ QVGA TFT
  • PH480272T-001-IA0Q = 4.3″ WQVGA TFT
  • PH480272T-001-IY3Q = 4.3″ WQVGA Hi-Brightness (440cd/m2) TFT
  • PH320240T-009-I-Q = 5.7″ QVGA TFT
  • PH320240T-009-IC1Q = 5.7″ QVGA TFT (mechanically compatible to Kyocera V-series)

Wednesday, June 25th, 2008

Where Kyocera leads the others will follow?

The latest innovation from Kyocera, one of the worlds premier TFT LCD display manufacturers is to shrink their highly successful and much copied 5.7″ V-Series TFT LCD and come up with their “Thin & Light” range.

At over 50% slimmer and lighter than the current 5.7″ V-Series TFT, Kyocera have pushed the boundaries in LCD technology whilst not compromising on performance. Once again Kyocera have listened to what today’s engineers and product designers need from their display and the call for a more compact, lightweight display has not gone un-answered.

The new “Thin & Light” 5.7″ TFT has an LED backlight and is available in two resolutions, QVGA, 320×240 dots (TCG057QVLBA-G00) and full VGA, 640×480 dots (TCG057VGLBA-G00) both with the same mechanical footprint, making these displays ideal for a product family or possible future product upgrades.

Specification:-

  • Outline Dimension (mm): 127.2 (W) x 100.4 (H) x 5.7 (D)
  • Weight (g): 110
  • Contrast Ratio: 500:1
  • Brightness (cd/m2): 300
  • Response Time (ms): 35

3 Inch Mobile Thermal Printers - PORTI-SM40 & SM45

Wednesday, June 18th, 2008

Two new additions to Woosim’s standard range of mobile thermal printers are the PORTI-SM40 and SM45, both offer a 3″ print width but with the diffrence that the SM45 is able to hold a larger roll of paper. These new 3″ printers slot in nicely between the already well established 2″ and 4″ versions and give users that require a little more information to be printed on their receipt etc. that extra inch of printing area whilst still maintaining a very compact footprint, something Woosim printers are renowned for.

Using direct thermal technology the printers offer very high quality printing, suitable for bar-code, text and graphics.  With their clamshell case design paper loading is extremely easy, ideal if you are on the move.

Features include:-

  • 3″ Print width (72mm/576 dots/line)
  • 203dpi or 8 dots/mm
  • Hi-Speed printing (40mm/sec)
  • Compact design - SM40: 107.5 x 88.5 x 45mm, SM45: 107.5 x 95.5 x 50mm

Osram OLED - OS12864PK27M Clone

Wednesday, June 18th, 2008

The decision of Osram to announce the discontinuation of their OLED displays must have left many companies and engineers in dire straits. I’m sure last time buys would have been offered which would have given buyers and production managers the headache of frantically toting up their estimated annual usage, whilst the engineering teams would have to go back and begin the design cycle again.

If you are coming to the end of your display stocks and are now currently pulling your design team off other projects to solve the display crisis then we may have the solution for you. Our LCD supplier Bolymin now have a small but growing range of OLED displays, their BL12864HOLED is a clone of one of Osram’s largest sellers, the OS12864PK27M.

We can typically supply an FOC sample for evaluation in 3 weeks and volume production in approx. 8 weeks. For further information please give us a call on 01494 778235 or drop us an email at sales@craftdata.co.uk .

COG LCD with I2C Interface

Tuesday, June 17th, 2008

Two new character LCDs with a difference from our supplier Bolymin have now been added to their already extensive line up of both character and graphic liquid crystal displays.

Chip on Glass (COG) technology not always associated with character displays has been used to create two very low proifle LCds and utilising the ST7036i, I2C interface IC makes these new displays versatile enough to be used in a host of appliactions previously only open to simple seven segment devices.

The BO2002A offers the standard character size wheras the BO2002B the large character format.  Both modules have the same viewing and active areas as their more traditional COB counterparts plus both are single 3V input devices which is also now becoming more and more popular with designers and product developers.

Craft Data Bags a Zebra

Thursday, June 12th, 2008

We are pleased to announce that we have added the Zebra range of thermal printers to our printer product portfolio. Now, as well as Woosim’s mechanisms, portable/mobile and panel printers, we can offer the whole range of well-proven products from Zebra.

A quick overview of the current range is listed below.

The Xi111-Plus Series, which are heavy duty, high performance, high volume machines, for mission critical 24/7 industrial operations such as automated labeling.

The 105SL Series , ZM400/600 Series and the S4M Series are all mid-range thermal label printers. The 105SL with its tough steel frame ensures maximum durability in mid to high volume applications. The ZM400/600 Series printers process complex labels with variable data at a very impressive speed and the S4M Series is for the budget-minded and is a fairly straight forward label printer, ideal if you are upgrading from a desk-top printer.

The LP Series are compact, durable, direct thermal printers, perfect for a wide variety of mid to low volume labeling applications.

The TLP Series are thermal transfer printers also offering a wide variety of label printing options suitable for the low to medium volume markets that require an affordable “professional printing” capability.

Zebra have four groups of mobile printers - the QL Plus Series for receipts and labels has a rubberised over-moulding for superior ruggedness and is capable of sustaining multiple drops onto a hard surface. The RW Series for receipts , invoices and service reports is designed with the travelling workforce in mind. The Cameo Series is quick, efficient and lightweight, while the MZ Series is an entry level printer with a great design and user friendly features.

We are also able to offer Zebra’s “print engines” which are designed to be integrated into label application machinery for unattended operations and RFID Printers/Encoders, intended for supply chain management, asset tracking, work in progress, baggage tagging, personnel identification etc., etc..

With the acquisition of one of the world leaders in the ticket/kiosk printer market, Swedens’s Swecoin, Zebra are addressing all the major markets requiring fast, extremely reliable printers.
